Development Leadership Dialogue (DLD) at SOAS University of London will hold its fifth Future Leaders Programme (FLP), which will also be the fifth edition of Industrial Policy for Policy Makers (IPPM). The programme will take place in September 2024, alongside the annual African Programme on Rethinking Development Economics (APORDE). The theme for the programme is: Green Industrialisation in Africa.
The programme is a partnership between DLD, APORDE, the DSI/NRF South African Research Chair in Industrial Development (SARChI-ID) and Trade & Industrial Policy Strategies (TIPS). It is aimed at senior government officials from across Africa and will be held in Gauteng (Muldersdrift), South Africa, from the 2nd to 6th September 2024.
There is no charge to attend the training; however, due to limited places applicants will be accepted through a competitive application process. South African participants, or their institutions, will be required to cover their own transport and accommodation costs. Participants from other countries will have their travel and accommodation costs covered by the programme.

We are pleased to announce that the eighteenth edition of the African Programme on Rethinking Development Economics (APORDE) is scheduled to take place in Gauteng, South Africa at a venue in Muldersdrift, from the 2nd to the 13th September 2024.
APORDE is a high-level training programme in development economics which aims to build capacity in economics and economic policy-making. The course is run for two weeks and consists of lectures and seminars taught by leading international and African economists.
This call is directed at talented economists, policy makers, academics and civil society activists who, if selected, will be fully funded to participate in the course.
